Inflation, Deflation and Forex.
In order to have a broad under standing of the current debate aboutinflation and deflation Forex investors need to under stand how inflation and deflation have an affect on the Forex investment markets. A country that is experiencing the lowering of prices in retails, services and property is suffering the affects of deflation. The normal positive state of any economy should be inflation which is the rise in prices and cost of living. Generally the most visible affect of deflation is the lowering of prices and therefore thecost of living becomes cheaper. However should the situation of deflation continue over a prolonged period companies and businesses can begin to feel the pressure which may mean reduction in wages, shorter working weeks and eventually lay-offs. The double edged sword of deflation is to force the economy into a state of decline which increases unemployment thus reducing spending power which can spiral in to a full scale recession. To counteract this downturn people may begin to sell off their investmentswhich will no longer offer the profitable returns as in a growth economy.
