Forex Chinese Yen consumer prices fall.
For the past three months to April of this year prices of consumer products in China have continued to get cheaper, the latest figures show a fall of 1.5% from the beginning of the year to April. These falls in consumer goods follow on from the drop in price of energy and food which came down from the previous years high. One of the key goods in the Chinese food consumption is the price of pork which has seen drops of 28.6% from previous year levels which also suffered from a shortage in pork supply in 2008 which led to a sharp price hike. This fall has been expected as costs of goods such as fuel and raw materials have fallen by as much as 9.6% compared to previous year levels. The chairman of equities at JP Morgan in China is quoted as saying “Deflationary concerns appear to be subsiding as the economy shows signs of recovery.” As a key exporter the world of Forex will watch for signs of economic growth in China as key to world economic recovery and increasing Forex trade.
